This framework has been developed to support those who are employed in the information, advice and guidance related services sector in Wales. It is aimed at those working with a range of clients and agencies, including but not limited to support agencies and other social support organisations.
The framework will provide you with the skills needed to deliver high quality information, advice and/or guidance related services (dependent on role), help develop your role, and support progression into supervisory, management and/or higher professional roles.
The Apprenticeship will suit if you enjoy assisting others to achieve their potential, is driven by performing well against agreed targets, and wishes to work collaboratively with customers and employers to meet their needs.
To undertake this framework you must be:
- Motivated to succeed in completing the Apprenticeship
- Willing to learn and apply what you have learnt in the workplace
- Willing and able to communicate effectively with a range of people;
- Committed to equality and diversity.
If the Apprenticeship involves Regulated Activity new entrants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Pathway options and levels
Information Advice and Guidance - Level 3
Pathway 1: Supports the job role of Customer Liaison Officer, Employment Liaison Officer, Family Support Officer, Job Broker/Employer Engagement Officer, Job/Employability Coach, Project/Support Worker/Officer and Tutor.
Pathway 2: Supports the job role of Customer Liaison Officer, Personal Adviser/Job Coach/Employability Coach, Job Broker/Employer Engagement Officer and Tutor.
Information Advice and Guidance - Level 4
Pathway 1: Supports the job roles of Customer Liaison Officer, Employment Liaison Officer, Family Support Officer, Job Broker/Employer Engagement Officer, Job Coach, Senior Project Worker/Co-ordinator and Tutor.
Pathway 2: Supports the job roles of Employer Engagement Co-ordinator/Senior Job Broker/Senior Engagement Consultant, Senior Personal Adviser/Senior Job Coach Senior Tutor/Tutor Co-ordinator and Stakeholder / Partnership Co-ordinator (Advanced Practitioner).
Pathway 3: Supports the job role of Careers Assistant.

- Higher Apprenticeships in Information, Advice and Guidance Related Services; Management & Leadership (after gaining experience at a middle management level); Customer Service; Business & Administration.
- Foundation degrees in relevant vocational areas.
Level 4 Routes include:
- Employment
- Further training and qualifications
- Higher Apprenticeships such as management & leadership (after gaining experience at a middle management level)
- Qualifications at level 5 and above in areas such as advice & guidance, leadership and management business studies
- Teaching qualifications.
