This framework is aimed at those individuals who wish to work in operational roles in leisure and recreation facilities ranging from leisure and recreation centres to caravan and holiday parks.

If you are either already employed in the sector, are looking to enter the sector and further develop knowledge and skills to progress within the sector then this framework may be for you.

You should have a positive, motivating, can do attitude and be willing to work both as part of a team or on your own.

You should be motivated to succeed in the health and fitness industry and be willing to work shifts, sometimes unsociable hours and travel between sites.

You might also need to undergo police checks when working with vulnerable adults and children.

At an Advanced Level, you are expected to show the ability to develop outstanding managerial and customer services skills.

Pathway options and levels

Leisure Operations and Leisure Management - Level 2

Pathway 1: Supports the job roles of Recreation / Leisure Assistant, Recreation / Leisure Attendant, Grounds person, Park Receptionist, Maintenance Operative and Park Operative.

Leisure Operations and Leisure Management - Level 3

Pathway 1:  Supports the job roles of Club Manager/Duty Manager.

Level 3: Routes include:

  • Employment
  • Further Education or Higher Education courses studying subjects such as Events Management, Marketing, Business, Management and Leadership or Human Resources Management.

Qualifications

Level 2: NVQ Certificate in Active Leisure, Learning and Well-being Operational Services

Level 3: NVQ Diploma in Leisure Management
