About the apprenticeship

Duties

Support Tree Planting Projects
• Assist with planning and planting new trees to enhance biodiversity.
• Learn correct planting techniques and aftercare procedures.
Customer Service
• Good communication skills.
• Provide basic information to residents and elected members when required.
Environmental Awareness
• Understand the role of trees in climate change mitigation and biodiversity.
• Promote good practice in tree care and environmental stewardship.
General Team Support
• Assist with greenspace management and when colleagues are unavailable.
• To be prepared to work outdoors on a daily basis in all weather conditions, and during winter weather, be flexible and committed to working unsociable hours as necessary according to the needs of the public.
Equipment and PPE
• Undertake training on forestry machinery and equipment e.g. chainsaws, pole saw woodchipper, harness and ropes etc.
• Maintain all forestry tools and machinery, equipment and materials in a safe working manner.

Demonstrates enthusiasm for biodiversity, sustainability, and green space management.

Open to developing new skills and gaining qualifications through structured training.

Able to communicate clearly and politely with colleagues, contractors, and members of the public.

Works well as part of a team and supports others when needed.

Qualifications

GCSE’s grade C or above - Desirable

Full and Clean Driving Licence - Essential
