About the apprenticeship
Duties
We are looking to recruit an ALN Admin Apprentice to work alongside experienced teachers and undertake the following duties:
Manage student records and plans
They keep track of students identified with ALN (Additional Learning Needs) and maintain documents like Individual Development Plans (IDPs). This includes updating records, ensuring legal requirements are met, and keeping everything organised.
Coordinate support services
They act as a hub between teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and external professionals (like educational psychologists or therapists). If a student needs extra support, the ALN admin helps make sure it’s arranged and communicated properly.
Support the ALNCo (Additional Learning Needs Coordinator)
The ALNCo leads the strategy, while the admin handles much of the administrative workload—scheduling meetings, preparing paperwork and tracking progress data.
Organise meetings and reviews
They arrange review meetings for students with ALN, invite relevant staff and parents and record outcomes. These reviews are important to check whether support is working.
Ensure compliance with regulations
In places like Wales (which uses the ALN system), schools must follow strict legal guidelines. The admin helps make sure deadlines, documentation and processes meet those requirements.
Handle communication
They often respond to emails or queries from parents and staff about support arrangements, making sure everyone stays informed.
