Company overview
The UK’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) offers trademarking and patents for creators. Intellectual property protection helps prevent the theft of product names and brands, invention ideas, product designs and written or produced creations.Opportunities offered
What apprenticeships do they offer?
Many of the apprenticeships offer training opportunities for those looking to pursue a career in business administration. Almost all apprentices are on fixed 18-month contracts. Once they have completed the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to apply for more permanent positions
When does the IPO usually recruit for apprentices?
Usually around September. The organisation holds an open evening in May, where potential candidates can meet current employees and learn about the opportunities on offer.
What is the IPO looking for in an applicant?
Applicants must have a minimum of five GCSES grades from A*-C. The IPO does not employ apprentices with degrees or any qualifications equivalent to the apprenticeship as the IPO focuses on offering opportunities to those who may not have had access to further education before.
What type of jobs can apprentices expect to be doing?
The business administration apprenticeship offers employees the opportunity to hone office skills. Day-to-day apprentices may find themselves sending emails, organising meetings and taking minutes, representing the company at different events and reviewing applications.
