About the apprenticeship

Duties

Are you passionate about helping people reach their potential and find meaningful work? We’re looking for a Community Services Apprentice to join our team and support residents across Torfaen.

Community Services is a diverse area, and you will be involved in assisted a varied team to deliver services to support people to access services needed to help them address their needs. In addition, there will be opportunities to develop an understanding of the wider service provisions within communities such as support for young people, employment, family support and housing. In addition, the role will involve working with a range of providers to develop innovation and practices aimed at increasing community resilience to transform services to deliver effective early intervention and prevention services.

What you’ll do:
• Support in the delivery of community prevention services across the Council
• To link early intervention and prevention processes to other key service areas such as Housing, Social Care and Education
• Deliver excellent customer care to individuals accessing support
• Update and maintain records on internal systems and databases
• Respond to enquiries via phone and email
• Support the coordination of services and referrals with partner organisations

Skills

• Interested in supporting in the delivery of community prevention services across the Council
• Careful when handling documents, checking details, and following instructions.
• Communicates clearly in writing and in person and asks questions when unsure.
• Works well in a team, listens to others, and contributes positively.
• Able to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and balance work with apprenticeship learning.
• Comfortable using email, Word, and Excel, and willing to learn new legal systems.
• Understands the need for discretion with sensitive information.
• Motivated to support public services and help shape local communities through legal work.

Qualifications

Anyone aged 16 or over can complete an apprenticeship qualification. There is no maximum age limit.
16 year olds will need to have completed their final GCSE year at school before starting an apprenticeship.
You must be prepared to undertake training, spending a minimum of 20% of your time learning and studying.
