About the apprenticeship

Duties

A Data Recovery Technician is responsible for recovering lost, corrupted, or damaged data from storage devices, including hard drives and RAID’s. The technician plays a key role in ensuring that critical business data and personal general user data is preserved and restored.
1. Data Recovery Operations:
Perform data recovery services on damaged or corrupted storage media such as hard drives (HDD) and RAID arrays.
2. Technical Expertise:
Stay up-to-date with the latest data recovery techniques, tools, and technologies.
3. Data Management and Backup Solutions:Ensure recovered data is safely transferred to our internal Storage devices (ISD’s).
4. Communication:
Communicate with other members of staff to explain your findings and answer any questions they may have regarding the recovery performed, this may be done face to face or via online messages via our internal staff system.
5. Security and Confidentiality:
Always maintain strict confidentiality of customer data and sensitive information.
6. Quality Control:
Verify that recovered data is intact, readable, and accurately restored, by performing the require integrity tests and declaring these results accurately.





Additional information

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
· Ability to work with sensitive electronic equipment, which may involve prolonged periods of sitting or using hand tools.
· Work in a controlled, clean-room environment when necessary for hard drive or hardware repairs.
· Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., servers, large storage systems).

· Knowledge of data encryption and decryption processes.
· Ability to work with server-based systems and large-scale data recovery operations.
· Knowledge of data systems and storage functionalities.

Qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade A*-C / Level 2: Desirable
GCSE (or equivalent) in an IT subject: Desirable
