About the apprenticeship
Duties
As a Legal Apprentice we want you to bring all your energy, enthusiasm and bright ideas to support the important work of our Legal Services Property and Development Team, who look after the Council’s Local Land Charges Register together with carrying out legal work in relation to land and buildings within the Borough.
You will get involved in some interesting areas of work including helping us with digitising Council legal records, learning how to keep the local land charges register up to date and assisting our lawyers in carrying out legal work.
The experience gained will be invaluable for anyone looking to develop a legal career in areas related to land and property. In addition to working directly with the Legal Team, we will be able to provide structured training towards a Digital Skills for Business qualification which is a nationally recognised qualification, together with work-related experience.
This post is based in a friendly team where you will receive excellent support and on-the-job-training. What’s more, you’ll gain valuable work and life skills to help you launch a career in your chosen field.

• Interested in legal processes, particularly land law, planning, and regeneration
• Careful when handling documents, checking details, and following instructions.
• Communicates clearly in writing and in person and asks questions when unsure.
• Works well in a team, listens to others, and contributes positively.
• Able to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and balance work with apprenticeship learning.
• Comfortable using email, Word, and Excel, and willing to learn new legal systems.
• Understands the need for discretion with sensitive information.
• Motivated to support public services and help shape local communities through legal work.
Qualifications
Anyone aged 16 or over can complete an apprenticeship qualification. There is no maximum age limit.
16-year-olds will need to have completed their final GCSE year at school before starting an apprenticeship.
You must be prepared to undertake training, spending a minimum of 20% of your time learning and studying.
