About the apprenticeship
Duties
• Drive a range of vehicles throughout the UK, Europe, and on worldwide operational deployment or field exercises, both on and off roads.
• Train and operate specialist vehicles supporting the RAF’s airfields in the UK and worldwide.
• Transport anything from personnel to dangerous goods utilizing HGVs and PCVs.
• Clear runways of snow, Ice and debris using specialist airfield vehicles to keep runways operational.
• Operate the aircraft refueler which holds up to 44,000 Ltrs of aviation fuel this can refuel all variants of fixed wing and rotary aircraft.
• Certain units will specialise in Rotors Turning Refuels, Abnormal Loads i.e. transport of aircraft, and heavy haulage.
Additional information
As an apprentice in the RAF you will be trained to play a role in the RAF’s mission to defending the skies of the UK and projecting the UK’s power and influence around the world. You will also be involved with assisting to deliver humanitarian aid around the world as directed by the UK Government. You could work at multiple locations in the UK.
