About the apprenticeship

Duties

Assembly and testing of our instrumentation and ancillary equipment, including calibrations, pre-testing, temperature cycling, final testing, EMC and PAT testing
Work in a Manufacturing cleanroom environment
Performing soldering operations to aid assembly
Use of laser engravers, welders, lathes, and other workshop machinery as required
Completing build documentation for batch recording of parts and components, and the selection of individual parts to maintain quality and traceability
Ability to collaborate with others and work effectively as part of a diverse team
Seek potential improvement opportunities within your area of the business

Requirements

Skills

Essential

GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science/Technology subjects
Strong interest in engineering and manufacturing
Good communication and teamwork skills
Attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
A passion for quality
Computer literacy and proficiency in a range of Windows based PC applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Access)
Willingness to train and develop
Ability to drive and access to own transport

Desirable

An understanding of electronic principles, fault finding of PCBs and reading of schematic diagrams.
Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
Knowledge of and the ability to use workshop equipment to high standards (or the ability to train in their use).
Surface mount soldering experience
Understanding of an Employee Owned organisation
