About the apprenticeship

Duties

• Adhere to the Policies and Procedures of Fun Foundations Day Nursery. 

• Be customer focused at all times in accordance to Fun Foundation’s Collaborative Ambition
Compass 

• Have a knowledge and understanding of the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation, The
Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2010 and CIW National Minimum Standards. 

• Ensure that confidentiality is maintained in the nursery at all times. 

• Work as part of a team, including:
- respect colleagues and their roles to build positive relationships - have excellent communication skills
- always be willing to help
- take pride in what you do 

• Care for and supervise the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual
needs at all times. 

• Work with the team to plan and prepare activities to meet children’s individual needs. 

• Share responsibility with the team to observe and record children's development 

• Work with all key workers to communicate all information concerning children in my care 

• Share information fully with colleagues to enable successful continued care and development of
positive relationships with families. 

• Build positive relationships with parents and families through effective communication and
liaising to negotiate working targets.

Job Duties Continued:
• Offer all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins,
gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenge situations where focused on holistic development
• Build positive relationships with children through - effective communication
- engaging at the child’s level at all times
- modelling play and nursery expectations 

• Positively manage children's behaviour in accordance with Fun Foundations Policy and
Procedure. 

• Take ownership for continued professional development and meet targets that are agreed in
supervisions and appraisals. 

• Prepare, care for, clean, maintain and respect the nursery playrooms and equipment. 

• Provide a good role model for students, volunteers and help new staff to fit into the nursery. 

• Keep accident, incident and risk assessment records. 

• Supervise mealtimes and where appropriate prepare babies bottles in accordance to Fun
Foundations Policy and Procedure. 

• Kitchen duties to include:
- loading and unloading of the dishwasher
- mopping up spillages
- collating lunch and tea numbers
- updating menu board
- general cleaning in accordance with canteen induction. 

• Laundry duties to include:
- loading and unloading of washing machine
- loading and unloading of tumble drier
- folding and putting away laundry in a manner accordance with nursery induction

• Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Manager. 

• Drop and/or collect children from local primary schools, either by foot or using the nursery
vehicle in accordance with Fun Foundations Policy and Procedure. 

• Participate in regular parents' evenings, publicity, open weekends and children's outings. 

• Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Management Team.
