About the apprenticeship

Duties

1.1. The main purpose of this role is to provide practical, work based experience through structured placements with external building contractors, enabling apprentices to develop traditional building skills and complete their apprenticeship qualification. The Authority’s role is to support and coordinate the programme rather than provide work placements directly.
1.2. Ultimately, these roles aim to strengthen the availability of traditional skills among contractors in the north west of Wales.
1.3. To assist the Eryri National Park Authority’s Cultural Heritage Service in delivering its objectives and Cultural Heritage Strategy.
1.4. To foster and maintain good relationships between residents, land managers, visitors, the construction sector, and conservation and cultural interests.

2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1. Complete the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance Operations through Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, attending college one day a week throughout the apprenticeship.
• Spend time working with at least three different contractors. These placements may include (but are not limited to) Llanberis, Llanrwst, and the Porthmadog area.
• Ensure excellent customer care principles are applied to all aspects of service delivery within the role.
• Encourage and motivate volunteers.
• Promote adherence to the Countryside Code and local codes of conduct.
• Present and promote the organisation’s values and characteristics.
• Take due care for your own Health and Safety

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to learn and self-motivated
Ability to communicate in Welsh and English (or willingness to improve Welsh)
Full driving licence with access to a vehicle
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather
