About the apprenticeship
Duties
The role will include:
Supporting learners with their Welsh language and literacy skills.
Supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
Supporting pupils with their numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.
Supporting learners across a range of classroom activities and areas.
Understanding the school’s safeguarding and behaviour policies and their role within these.
Promoting Welsh culture and identity.
Working with children aged 3–6 years within the Foundation Phase.
Supporting the teacher with a variety of roles and activities within the classroom.
Conducting themselves in a professional manner at all times when working within a school environment.
Requirements
Skills
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience working with children.
Any previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Strong Welsh, English and Mathematics skills.
Good communication skills relevant to working with both children and adults.
Competent skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT.
Ability to self-manage and organise your own time.
Personal Qualities
Reliable.

A good level of maturity when working in a school environment.
Ambitious and hard working.
A desire to be a positive role model to young people.
Qualifications
Minimum GCSE grades A–C (or equivalent) in Welsh, English and Mathematics.*
