About the apprenticeship

Duties

Assisting in the delivery of specialist and flexible support to children with complex care needs and their families in response to assessed need as identified by Disabled Children with Complex Needs team.

Supporting team members with their individual caseload.

Supporting families to overcome barriers to change as identified in the Care and Support Plan, supporting them to build their confidence and skills to do so.

Communicating any emerging family needs to the Care Manager

Work closely with the Case Manager to review plans with families and evaluate interventions as required feeding directly into the care and support planning process.

Assist Case Manager to attend inter-agency meetings/ liaisons e.g. core groups, case conferences, strategy meetings as required.

Working in accordance with the requirements of the Children’s Services Quality Assurance Framework.

Providing a quality, flexible service that promotes equality and celebrates diversity for children with complex care needs and their families, recognising cultural differences in families and making appropriate arrangements to meet needs (e.g. translator)

To undertake such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade, as may be reasonably required by the Head of Service.

Who We’re Looking For
The Disabled Children’s Team delivers targeted intervention programmes to disabled children and their families to build skills, improve understanding and support integration and independence. This is delivered through a time limited specially designed programme of work and an accredited skills model for which training will be provided.

The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic and motivated. Good communication skills are crucial to the role as you will be required to interact effectively with a range of individuals including disabled children, family members, staff from partner agencies and members of the public.

What Will You Study?
All Apprentices will be supported to complete a QCF (Qualification Credit Framework, formerly NVQ) qualification in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People), Level 3 via a training provider or local college.

What will you be paid?
This is a fixed term post for a two-year period and will start in September 2024. You will be paid National Minimum Wage dependent on age:

• 21 & over £11.42
• 18 - 20 £8.60
• Under 18 £6.40

Due to the Apprenticeship entry criteria, applications cannot be accepted from any applicant who has already gained a similar qualification at level 3 or above in the role applied for.

For example, if you have a degree in Civil Engineering you will not be eligible to apply for a Civil Engineering apprenticeship post. However, you could apply for any other apprenticeship post. Any such applications will not be considered.
